About

This blog is about one of the very first tree-to-bar organic chocolate cooperatives: The Grenada Chocolate Company (tree-to-bar being the rare case they control the complete process from planting the cacao trees to wrapping the chocolate bars…).

Mott Green, founder of the company and passionate chocolate maker had a dream to transport his chocolate ‘carbon neutral’ from the tropics to markets in the US and Europe. By teaming up with the Dutch shipping company Fair Transport, which is sailing the world on wind energy, this dream is becoming reality as we speak, and we will NOW be documenting the SECOND EVER Fair Transport of chocolate…

Early March 2013 another 50.000 bars of this world renown chocolate sailed away from Grenada to Portsmouth UK and Amsterdam NL on the wind-powered sailing vessel Brigantine Tres Hombres.

The adventure started with preparations, my trip to Grenada, visiting the cocoa plantations and chocolate producers of Grenada, meeting the crew of Tres Hombres and all side stories about chocolate, organic farming, sailing, sustainability and more… Now in 2013 we will follow the second trip, read all about it on these pages.

Read this blog, the ship’s blog and Mott’s blog to know all about this event and check the shiptracker yourself to see where they are now… enjoy!

17.000 fair transport Grenada repen
